BTS Behind the Scenes: Meet Intern Ryan Keaton

BTS Behind the Scenes is a chance to showcase the people who are making things happen at BTS and give you a “behind the scenes” look into their worlds. In this month’s feature we’ll talk with summer 2025 intern Ryan Keaton and dig into Excel wizardry, rugby, and teamwork.

What’s the biggest thing you’ve learned at BTS this summer?

The biggest thing I learned this summer is how to stay organized and manage multiple tasks at once. I really improved my Excel skills and got better at analyzing and handling data in a way that makes things clear and easy to use. It showed how being detail-oriented can make a difference in helping a team run smoothly. I learned the most from the people around me- asking how they think through problems and approach challenges gave me a new perspective on how to handle my own work.

Any favorite projects or moments from the summer?

One of my favorite parts was working on Excel projects where I had to keep track of information and organize it in a way that made things easier for the team. It felt good to know my work actually helped things run smoother. I also enjoyed the moments of collaborating with people in the office and solving problems together

How will this experience help you back at Salisbury going into your senior year?

I worked mainly under the head of HR, which gave me a close look at how things are run day to day. A big part of my role was keeping things organized and working with Microsoft Excel, which improved my skills in managing data and paying attention to detail. The experience helped me build confidence in a professional setting and gave me tools I can carry into my senior year.

Outside of school and work, what are you up to?

Outside of work and school my biggest passion is rugby. I started playing at the end of high school and continued playing into college. I love the intensity and toughness of the sport and the great friends I have made along the way. I plan on playing rugby after college as well for a local men’s team.

Ok, lightning round!

  • Coffee or energy drinks? Energy drink sometimes I just need that extra jolt to get me through the day.
  • Go-to late-night snack? Cheez-its, crunchy and cheesy. What more could you want?
  • Beach day or hiking trip? Beach. I love swimming and the ocean
  • Favorite Salisbury hangout? Salisbury Zoo. I love checking out all the cool critters and the best part? It’s totally free.
  • Song that’s been on repeat this summer? “Say it aint so.” – Weezer
