BTS Behind the Scenes: Meet CSSO / Corporate Support Officer Becky Berube

BTS Behind the Scenes is a chance to showcase the people who are making things happen at BTS and give you a “behind the scenes” look into their worlds. In this month’s feature we’ll talk with CSSO / Corporate Support Officer Becky Berube and discuss the people side of security and how to crochet for good.

What first drew you to the world of corporate security, and how did that path lead you to your current role at BTS?

I was drawn to corporate security because it blends structure, trust, and teamwork—three things I’ve always valued. Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to work with great colleagues like Michelle and Doug, and when the opportunity arose to join BTS, it felt like the perfect fit.

BTS has that small-company atmosphere I love—collaborative, mission-driven, and people-focused. It’s rewarding to work alongside a team that genuinely supports one another while making an impact every day.

You’re a self-described “people person” in a space that often seems all about process— what makes that approach so important in your work?

We have a wonderful team, and we all work well together. I enjoy helping people, which comes in handy, especially with helping individuals complete their security forms.

Looking back, what advice would you give to your younger self just starting out in your career?

I wish I would have gotten my clearance and worked in security sooner. I really enjoy the type of work that comes with being in security.

What do you find most rewarding about working in security at a company like BTS, where mission and people intersect?

I like the small company atmosphere. I enjoy working with people and act as the liaison between future and current employees and the government.

Outside of work, you’ve got a creative side—what kinds of crochet projects or hobbies do you find most relaxing after a long day?

I really enjoy crocheting and have made several things for family and friends. The church I belong to has a group of ladies that crochet and/or knit things for hospice patients, cancer patients, dementia patients as well as an organization that helps new moms. It’s very rewarding to make things for those in need.

Ok, lightning round!

  • Go-to snack during work hours: Chocolate
  • Vacation spot you want to visit but never have: Ireland
  • How great is Old Bay, scale of 1-10?  9
  • Favorite thing to do with the grandkids: Mainly just spend time with them.  My oldest granddaughter loves to crochet and play volleyball. My 10- and 7-year-old grandsons play baseball. I make sure to attend every sports event with them. I go to the park with my grandsons and am teaching them how to roller skate at the roller-skating rink. I love spending time with my 20-month-old grandson as well.
